Conflicting ambitions

A lot of businesses today are hovering between conflicting ambitions. On one side, they want to create the best web experience for their customers; on the other, they have to deal with clear cost and operational expenses incurred from developing and managing a single web code base for all touchpoints. As a business owner, you need to have thoroughly planned and budgeted before setting up a responsive website. For starters, keep these important elements in mind:
•    Responsive design and HTML5 are mutually exclusive. Contrary to the popular web design idea, CSS3 and HTML5 are certainly two separate technologies. Yes, it is true that you can develop a responsive site without using HTML5, but most web developers are using the features of CSS3 and HTML5 to build responsive sites.
•    As an early adopter, there will be many challenges ahead. Responsive design is a developing concept that you will need to learn and adapt to. While there are many great examples of responsive designs to be inspired by, there will still be hurdles to face.
•    If you proceed, you will probably need agency help. Responsive design is a complex concept that requires a focused approach  by your web developers.  Seeking outside expertise from a web development company will reduce the risk of losing your investment.
•    It doesn’t replace the need for apps. Responsive web design and mobile apps are completely different ideas. A responsive site will not be able to simplify mobile apps let alone replace it. Thus, you need to have separate teams streamlining the different development processes of both concepts.
Responsive web design is an effective web solution for cross-browser compatibility and single code base for all devices.  Today, we are bombarded with a variety of screen resolutions where responsive design becomes a perfect solution.
